Peter Obi Donates N20M to a School Construction Project in a State in Northern Nigeria

Peter Obi was the most popular candidate in Nigeria's 2023 general election. He garnered strong support from the youth and women in the country's largest cities—Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt—and won those cities in the polls. However, despite the election results being processed and declared in a manner lacking transparency and fairness, which led to his loss in the race for the presidency, Peter Obi has continued his philanthropic efforts without pause.

On Wednesday, February 19th, he began a nationwide tour, which took him to Kaduna State. Kaduna is Nigeria's second-largest state by population in the North Central region and is also one of the most terrorized states.

According to a post on his Twitter account, Peter Obi donated 20 million Naira (approximately $15,000) to support a school project initiated by Bishop Julius Kundi at the Joseph D. Bagobiri Memorial College.

"During our recent conversation, I was deeply moved by his remarkable efforts to support children in the community, many of whom—about 80 percent—have lost their parents due to the ongoing crisis in the region. Understanding the urgent need for intervention, Bishop Julius Kundi has led the construction of schools to provide these children with quality education and a pathway to a better future. His dedication is not only commendable but also essential in addressing the challenge of out-of-school children—a critical issue that must be tackled for sustainable national development. In support of this noble cause, I have donated N20 million to help advance this initiative."

Both friends and critics have congratulated Obi for his gesture and have encouraged other individuals to contribute to meaningful social programs and projects that benefit society.
